Cat litterbox

I really like the ModKat litterbox, but I kind of dislike the idea of having to lean into and peer into it to scoop things out of it.  Also, usually in these kinds of covered boxes you have to find a place on the ground to put the cover, when you take it off to scoop.  A lot of people who have a litter box tend to put them against a wall or in a corner of a room that's not so highly trafficked.  So I drew this one that's shaped to live in a corner, has a swinging upright hinge to flick open the cover for easier access to the litter, and a weighted base to keep the box from shifting or tipping.

This is basically a re-package of the multi-layered SmartCat litterbox system, which doesn't really have a lot of design options right now.  The idea behind the SmartCat seems like a great way to halve the labor involved with litter box maintenance (without having to use a huge motorized catbox that needs electrical and/or water/waste access)

Drawn during the ACAN Product Design: Process class with Stan Kong for our Pet Product assignment.
